I was told by the Waterloo Regional Travel Clinic that they recommend the following shots or medication before travelling
(though none are mandatory):

Hepatitis A (shot(s))

Hepatitis B (3 shots)

Tetanus/Diphtheria booster (shot)

Typhoid (shot)

Malaria (via pills shortly before, during
and after the trip

Cipro - I was given a prescription for
this antibotic. I was to get it filled and take with me to self-medicate if I got severe diarrhoea.
I had these shots on Friday August 16, 2002 (except for Hepatitus B which I'd had in the early 90's when I was a volunteer fire fighter). I received a prescription for malaria medicine and cipro.
